Deep-Sea Fishing Information

Some of the rally attendees will be going deep-sea fishing out of Robbie’s Marina at the southern end of Islamorada, mile marker 77.5 bayside.

The boat is The Capt. Michael, which is a 65-foot deep-sea fishing vessel. The crew provides assistance from helping you bait your hook, to netting your fish, to bringing it aboard. Back at the dock, the mates offer to clean, filet or make steaks of your catch (tips are customary). The Hungry Tarpon restaurant will also cook your catch for a fee.

To make reservations online go to http://www.robbies.com/ and click on “Book a fishing trip” or call (305) 664-8070 or (877) 664-8498. Advance reservations are recommended.

The cost per person for stern spots is $50 and regular spots is $40 plus tax on both. There are only a limited number of stern spots on the boat. Deep-sea rod rental is $5 or go to http://www.robbies.com/free.htm and print out coupon for Free Rod and Tackle. You can also carry on your own deep-sea rod and tackle. This is bottom fishing, not trolling.

So far those of us that signed up will be taking half-day trips (4 hours). Schedule so far is:

Monday, May 8: Anne Kuhns and Jane King, 2:00PM – 6:00PM trip, stern spots 5 and 6.
